THE ALBUM

'Purgatory' was the follow-up record to 'Welcome To Paradise'. I began to work on it right after finishing it's predecessor in late 2014. The biggest challenge was to create something entirely new. I didn't want to do the same thing I did on 'Welcome To Paradise'. At that time I was obsessed with Boards of Canada's latest record 'Tomorrow's Havest' and it ultimately became a guideline for 'Purgatory'. It gave me the idea of what I wanted to do. The concept was: What if Boards of Canada existed back in the early 80s and what if they had done a soundtrack for an old-school slasher film?

With that in mind I composed so much stuff, that 'Purgatory' became an almost 90-minute long soundtrack double album.
It was released on October 30, 2015, once again at Werkstatt Recordings.
In May 2016 the album was released on Audio Cassette through Werkstatt Recordings, featuring a couple of exclusive tracks that weren't on the original release.

This new version includes three demos ("Assault At Night", "Downtown Labyrinth" and "Escape"), as well as an alternative version of "Near Dawn" and one previously unreleased track "Purgatory (Reprise)".
